Crushgrind 470 is a ceramic mechanism fitted with a unique ratchet mechanism. This mechanism enables adjustment of the grind from coarse to fine. The Crushgrind 470 mechanism is easy to clean and will maintain its setting. Crushgrind 470 mills can be made from 120mm to 500mm or longer depending on your design. Crushgrind 470 has passed tests that equal that of 200 years of normal household usage. Crushgrind 470 has a "25 year warranty" on the ceramic parts. The heart of the Crushgrind 470 is "green and very environmentally friendly" as the ceramic grinder stone and cone are made entirely using natural materials. The Crushgrind 470 mechanism can be used for Pepper, Salt, Herbs and Spices and even coffee or make your own combination blend as the ceramic mechanism will not corrode. The Crushgrind 470 is manufactured for traditional made mills.
The one exception to this design characteriastic comes as a result off the bottom mounted locking grind adjustment knob. Because of this feature a metal adjustment knob at the top of the mill is not required.
This gives the craftperson freedom to create new and innovative designs.

Most kitchenware shops are now offering salt and pepper mills utilising ceramic mechanisms. The reason for this is that they are durable, adjustable and much more efficient than similar products. The CrushGrind® mechanisms that we sell are available as a shaftless version (CrushGrind Wood) and three versions with a shaft (CrushGrind Shaft). The shaft can be reduced in length for a shorter mill if required. CrushGrind® are like no other grinders, their unique ceramic mechanism allows you to grind almost anything, including salt, pepper, coffee, herbs and spices. The mechanisms are fully adjustable from fine to coarse with 14 settings in total and the ceramic parts are guaranteed for 25 years. No glue or screws are necessary for the making of these mills.
